Stranraer v Pars

Recommended Posts

This Saturday, the Pars head off to Stair Park in the 3rd round of the William Hill Scottish Cup. While it can be argued that with the Pars inconsistency we have coughed and spluttered to a mid-table spot in a highly competitive division, while Stranraer's form has been considerably worse that ourselves. The form book determines that they sit currently bottom of league one managing 10pts in 14 league games scoring 16 goals and conceding 29 with a GD of -13goals. In their last 5 games they have managed a draw and win with 4pts their last 5 games. The Pars sit 6th, with 16 pts and like Stranraer we have also scored 16 goals but only conceding 15 giving us a GD of +1. However this is a cup game and we have not fared that well against part time teams. With Stranraer having nothing to lose they will eye this enthusiastically as a potential cup upset. Cows indicate that Craw has had them well watched so we should know what to expect. With Lang and Murray still injured the Pars faithful will still expect a win and hopefully see the return of Joe Thomson to full fitness and featuring in this game. 3-1 Pars win for me COYP

Hopefully the tough matches against part timers already this season will have stood the in good stead.

SC seems to be leaving nothing to chance.

Doubts about Crawford will naturally come to the fore again. It would be arrogance to dismiss them as bedwetting.

This is not a fatal blow to him, but will have decreased his wiggle room for the league campaign. He simply cannot afford a bad run in the immediate future or things will turn sour quickly.

In perspective, I am struggling to remember the last really bad Scottish Cup result that the Pars have had, so statistically we were due one.

The cup is also littered with results like this each year - remember Ayr last year going out to a non league club.

The cup dismissal can easily be put down to being just of these things.

Crawford's inability against part time teams however is a reoccurring concern.

Another insipid away performance. Will have potentially lost a lot of money exiting the competition before the top teams even enter it.

Edinburgh City

Arbroath

Alloa

Stranraer

have beaten us this season and it's not only the defeats that are disappointing, it's the manner of them.  There was a big song and dance made about the attitude of players last season.  Has the attitude improved?  Doesn't look like it and the blame for that lies squarely on the manager.

Thankfully I did not travel to that today, but by all accounts was given numerous updates on performances.

utterly pumped out by the wee team last year and another lower league defeat this season, that's not good enough. If we've apparently got decent players, they need to start giving decent performances.

So much for having them watched , utterly dreadful result - must rank amongst worst ever.

Shock results are part and parcel of football, especially in cup ties but the performance and manner of the defeat are a major cause for concern. Crawford doesn't hide in his post match interview nor does he spare his players, but that is no consolation.

Nothing less than 3 pts v Partick is acceptable.

GG, so lose or draw v Thistle and he should be sacked?

I'm sure the Board will have a view in the event of that scenario panning out, Ross, but there will be a tipping point.

Typically over the top responses.

Its been done to death on here but here we go again...

Crawford has built a young squad with many on two year deals.  Many have stepped up a level to the Championship.  This year is for gaining experience with the expectation that they step up to challenge for promotion next season.

Youngsters are inconsistent, youngsters will make mistakes and it will be frustrating.

We cant just rip up the plan and bring in a new man with new ideas.  More change will breed more inconsistency.

That was a shocker of a performance. Days off should be cancelled and double training sessions given.

Not acceptable.
